Forklift Operator Certification Program

WorkForce Training provides a program to train forklift operators with varying levels of experience to meet or exceed all Workspace and CSA regulations and standards.

Program Capacity: Maximum 5 trainees

The Forklift Operator Certification Program is delivered at your facility. Trainees receive in-depth instruction on applicable regulations, safe forklift operation as well as hands-on exercises. Each trainee’s knowledge and skill level is evaluated. Those able to demonstrate a minimum level of operational competence receive documentation of successful program completion.

Please note that this program addresses engine powered, sit-down counterbalanced forklifts only.

A Counterbalanced Forklift Operator Reference Manual (workbook) will be provided to the trainee.

Prerequisites

  • Trainees should wear appropriate clothing and steel-toed shoes, if possible.
  • Forklifts provided for practical training and evaluations should be in safe operating condition.
  • Training forklifts may be provided by WorkForce Training upon request at an additional charge.

Program Outline

  • Main parts of a forklift and their functions
  • Basic lifting principles
  • Understanding safe forklift operation
  • Fuel types

Phase 2 – Written Theory Test (30 min.)

  • Program Trainer grades and scores each test upon completion.
  • Test answers are reviewed with the trainees as a group.
  • Test results are reviewed individually to ensure understanding.
  • Minimum score of 70% is required to pass the written test.

Phase 3 – Practical Training and Evaluation (remainder of day)
